St Anthony’s Picton – Flood Damage Repair Works

5/09/2016 – Due to extensive rain in June of this year which left St Anthony’s Catholic Parish Primary School Picton upwards of 1m under water and unable to operate out of the School, Momentum Built was contracted to rectify the flood damage to a number of buildings.

After months of ongoing works associated with the refurbishment of almost the entire school we successfully handed back Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 learning spaces along with the Library and Canteen for use by the teachers and students. The project has been a challenging one and seeing the students, teachers and Catholic Education staff’s positive response to the new spaces has been very humbling yet rewarding.

The below clip shows the recent Wollongong WIN story on the floods and in particular the challenges faced by the school and its students.

The positive response from those involved in the project as is illustrated in a recent email from Dave Leighton – Schools Properties Officer, Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong;

“I was at St Anthony’s Picton this morning and would like to pass on thanks and congratulations from our Director of Schools, Peter Turner and our Head of Finance, Facilities, ICLT & Planning, Bede Ritchie on the work that has gone into the preparation for the return of the infant students at St Anthony’s – All were impressed with the refurbished spaces especially students and staff.

Thank you all for the effort that has been put into the refurbishment of these spaces given the short timeline and continual client requests for changes to the layout etc. Your cooperation and perseverance has been outstanding. I look forward to completion of the remainder of the buildings in the coming weeks.

It has been a pleasure working with all of you during the past three months – once again thanks”.

We would like to thank Dave and the team at Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong for the opportunity to be involved in the project. We look forward to finishing the project in the coming weeks enabling years 3 through 6 to return to the school.
